Texture packing
Make efficient atlases without losing frame alignment.
Four settings to understand
| Setting | What changes |
|---|---|
| Trimming | Transparent borders are removed. The atlas keeps the original dimensions and offsets. |
| Rotation | Frames may rotate 90° to fit. Your loader must support rotated atlas entries. |
| Padding | Space between frames reduces sampling from neighboring sprites. |
| Power of two | Dimensions round up to a power of two. Useful for some rendering pipelines, but may leave empty space. |
Keep textures focused
Separate interface icons from character animation. Group assets that are drawn together and tend to change together. Large projects can use several atlas pages instead of one oversized texture.
Before shipping
Check the maximum texture size on your target device, verify transparent edges with filtering enabled, and keep the atlas data beside the matching texture revision.
